Pax AutocraticaGame Overview

Pax Autocratica is a darkly satirical totalitarian colony sim and FPS roguelite hybrid. The developer's own framing: "It's a game about power. How it's built, how it corrupts, and how it consumes."

The game was previously titled Earth From Another Sun — the current Steam key art still carries that earlier name. It entered Steam Early Access on August 10, 2026, independently developed and published by Multiverse. It earned a "Very Positive" Steam rating (about 91% positive) on day one. A free standalone Prologue was previously available from December 1, 2025 (see the Prologue file).

Three Games in One

Pax Autocratica's signature is stitching three very different genres into a single self-feeding loop — preview press called it "three games in one":

The three-layer structure · compiled from official & hands-on sources
LayerGenreWhat you do
① BuildColony simTurn a handful of survivors into a vast, self-sustaining colony: assign jobs, raise facilities, research tech, run production chains
② RuleCitizen managementGovern through fear, propaganda, surveillance and punishment — or through comfort and prosperity; every citizen's fears, loyalties, bonds and feuds are yours to shape
③ ConquerFPS roguelitePersonally storm battlefields beside your troops, scaling from desperate skirmishes to mechanized bullet-hell war with infantry, tanks and mechs

The three layers feed each other: the colony manufactures weapons, armor and soldiers for expeditions; expeditions return resources, core fragments and prisoners; prisoners are broken and converted into citizens or soldiers — and the cycle of expansion repeats until the whole sector kneels.

Headline Features (Official)

  • Shape citizens — dictate their fears, loyalties, bonds and feuds; sacrifice the weak, feed the strong (see Citizen Management)
  • Capture & convert — drag weakened enemies home and break them via fear, indoctrination, execution or conversion (see Prisoners & Conversion)
  • Roguelite core builds — collect Core Fragments on expeditions to empower you and your troops (see Core Fragments)
  • Bullet-hell warfare — elites, bosses and Sector Overlords flood the field with bullets, lasers, missiles, drones and artillery (see Enemies & Overlords)
  • Explore the Tyris System — gather resources, conscript citizens, trade with wandering merchants (see The Tyris System)
"Establish the greatest regime in history. Shape citizens' fears, loyalties, bonds, and feuds. Capture enemies, convert them into true believers. Sacrifice the weak. Feed the strong. Wield absolute power and make every life bend to your will." —— Official Steam store description

Content Warning

Per the developer: the game contains flashing lights and may be unsuitable for people with photosensitive epilepsy; it also carries mature content (violence and satire of authoritarian rule) that "may not be appropriate for all ages, or for viewing at work."

Reception

On Early Access launch the game hit Very Positive on Steam (91% of 239 purchaser reviews). Hands-on press praised the ambition of its genre fusion: MonsterVine described its vibe as "Warhammer 40K by way of Helldivers II"; Into Indie Games noted the colony layer is shallower than Dwarf Fortress or RimWorld and enemy AI is basic — but called it an ambitious Early Access mash-up "with strong ideas," best enjoyed by players who can tolerate some jank.
