Story & LoreSetting & Story

This is a story about power — how it is built, how it corrupts, and how it consumes everything. Welcome to the Tyris System, citizen. Your allegiance begins with reading this file.

A Shattered Empire

The Tyris System is named after a long-dead tyrant, Tyris — a man who crowned an entire star system with his own name. The tyrant is gone, but the empire he left behind has found no peace: alien invaders tear at its borders, peasant uprisings burn across its worlds, separatists carve out their own fiefdoms, and the most dangerous plague of all is an idea — the rumor of "freedom" is spreading.

Taking the helm of this sinking ship is an absolute ruler who styles himself the "Father of the People". And you are one of his loyal officers. According to hands-on press accounts, after a disastrous opening mission (your fleet suffers devastating losses and you are even captured at one point by the Ursulans), you are reassigned a mission: build a base, raise an army, retake the lost territories, and bring order back to the system.

"The State observes all. How will history remember your reign?" —— Official tagline (THE STATE OBSERVES ALL / How will history remember your reign?)

A Satirical Tone

Pax Autocratica has no intention of letting you play the hero. Its world is a dark satire of totalitarianism: propaganda boards read "WORK HARD · RISE STRONG," citizens tremble before you, and you hold a whip in one hand and a gun in the other. Hands-on press summed up its vibe as:

  • Warhammer 40,000-style brutal space-empire aesthetics
  • Helldivers 2-style "managed democracy" propaganda voice
  • Starship Troopers-style militarism satire

Notably, the game has no branching dialogue and no lengthy story cutscenes — as the press observed: "the systems themselves tell the story." How you rule shapes what your citizens become; how cruel you are decides how fiercely rebellion burns. The story grows out of the mechanics.

Your Role: The Loyal Officer

You are no chosen one — you are a blade in the machinery of the State. The in-game HUD displays your designation directly: gameplay screenshots have shown player tags such as "The REAL Father" and "Pax." The in-game calendar counts years in T.C. (screenshots show T.C. Year 364 / 372), and together with the daily clock and the daily wage counter it reminds you at all times: the State's time is passing, and production must not stop.

Your duty is twofold:

  1. As a ruler — walk the colony in first person: inspect factories, issue directives, dispose of prisoners, bring down the whip
  2. As a warrior — personally board the carrier for the battlefield, charge shoulder to shoulder with your soldiers, and kill Sector Overlords with your own hands
